CEREC

Single Visit, Same Day Crowns

Few things are worse that biting down on something and instantly knowing that you’ve cracked a molar. Aside from the pain, you know you need to get to the dentist as soon as possible. You have a dental emergency on your hands.

Other times, your back teeth may decay over time, to the point where you will need to have one or more of them replaced. If you are like most people, you have a busy life and you keep putting it off because of the inconvenience. There is the prospect of several visits and spending some uncomfortable time in the dentist’s office while impressions are made, which are only two of the things involved that you may not be looking forward to when you visit.

The lengthy process requiring more than one visit may still be the case with some dentists in the Kirkland area, but at Dr. Seal’s dental practice, those types of procedures are long gone. For the benefit of our patients, we’ve invested in the latest and most technologically advanced equipment, including devices that take much of the discomfort away, and repair damaged teeth in a fraction of the time it took to fix them in the past.

We use CEREC, which is short for Ceramic Reconstruction and is a sophisticated system that designs and produces high-quality dental restorations in one visit. This means we can offer our patients same-day crown, onlay, inlay, or bridge replacements. Essentially, any restoration, large or small may be a possible candidate for CEREC restoration. We can replace existing metal restorations with biocompatible non-metallic restorations as well.

CEREC uses 3D photography and CAD/CAM technology that allows us to design a virtual restoration without taking impressions. This technology also gives us the ability to build the actual restoration while our patients are still in our chairs. Moreover, because of the precision involved when using CEREC, you get a better fit the first time it is placed, meaning you spend less time later on dealing with adjustments.

Dr. Thomas H. Seal serves patients in the Kirkland and nearby Washington communities.
